What is the FrontRunners/Walker circuit?

·        It’s a series of designated races and walks that can earn members points toward winning prizes, accolades and hearty rounds of applause at our end-of-summer party and annual meeting in January.  A wide variety of running and walking events have been designated part of the circuit; plus you can earn points by running or walking in three off-circuit events of your own choosing.

o       Let the activities coordinator know in advance not only that you are going to participate in the run/walk event—and make a prediction of your time to complete the event.  After the event, make sure you let us know your actual time.  Prizes will be awarded also for those best able to accurately predict their completion times.

·        Race/walk circuit rules--based on the race circuit rules and procedures used by the DC Frontrunners.

o       You must report the following information to the activities coordinator: Race Name, Race Date, Your Predicted Time (submitted prior to the event) and Actual time (chip/net preferred over gun), Your Age (on race day - needed for point calculation).

o       We will score any and all races that you run from the Race Circuit towards your overall score.

o       We will determine your score based upon your best six performances from the list of circuit events.

o       Note:  three off-circuit events or events of your own choosing may be entered in the competition.

o       Race/walk circuit scoring:

§        We will use the Masters Age-Graded Tables from the World Association of Veteran Athletes. We will divide your time into the standard for your age and gender to derive a percentage that will then be used to award points.

§        We will use the sum of the points from your best six races to score the circuit points.

§        We will weight points for half marathons at 1.05 times and for marathons at 1.10 times.

§        We will award a certificate of participation to all who complete at least SIX of the circuit races and a special award to anyone who completes TEN or more races.

o      Certificates and awards will be presented at the end-of-summer picnic and at the annual meeting in January.
